  • Provide a variety of general office tasks when the regular Receptionist is out.
  • On-Call Receptionist will be contacted by Child Start to report to work for scheduled absences, pre-arranged by the regular Receptionist.
  • In the event of unscheduled absences, On-Call Receptionist may be required to report to work as soon as possible with little to no notice.


Serves as the first point of contact with the public; answers incoming telephone calls; receives messages; directs questions regarding Child Start and related functions and activities, greets and registers all visitors and advises appropriate staff of the visitor's arrival; signs for receipt of deliveries and supplies, utilizes bilingual skills to effectively communicate in English and/or Spanish; interprets, translates and summarizes forms, letter and handouts as requested.  Processes various forms of payment, faxes, printing requests and invoices promptly.  Directs incoming and outgoing mail.  Follows and/or improves established procedures.  Serves as backup for overflow clerical/typing requests. 



  • High School degree or equivalent. 
  • One year customer service or general office experience. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated skill to communicate clearly, tactfully and patiently in person, on the phone and in writing. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform as a receptionist in a busy office with multiple phone lines and a large volume of public contact. 
  •  Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  •  Exceptional organizational skills required. 
  •  Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time is required.
  • BILINGUAL: Able to read, write, speak and translate (Spanish/English) preferred.
